Larnaca International Airport (LCA) sits right on the coast, only about 4 km southwest of Larnaca city centre — a 10-minute drive — and is the main gateway to Cyprus. There is no train or metro anywhere on the island, so every traveller reaches their destination by road: taxi, pre-booked transfer, rental car or the intercity buses. Which one suits you depends on your budget, your luggage, the time you land and whether you are staying in Larnaca or heading on to Nicosia, Ayia Napa, Protaras or Limassol.

By taxi
Licensed taxis wait outside the arrivals hall, so you rarely queue for long. Cyprus taxis are metered on an official urban/rural tariff, with a higher night rate (roughly 23:00–06:00) and small charges for extra luggage; for longer runs to Nicosia, Ayia Napa or Limassol many drivers agree a fixed price instead. Either way, confirm the fare or that the meter will be used before you set off. The currency is the euro (€) and cards are often accepted, though it is wise to carry some cash. Private transfer
A pre-booked transfer locks in a fixed price and puts a driver in the arrivals hall waiting for you, often with a name board. It is the calmest choice after a long flight, when you are travelling as a family or group, carrying lots of luggage, or landing late at night — and it takes you door-to-door to a hotel in Ayia Napa, Protaras or Limassol without stops. Several rental companies keep desks in the terminal. A car is the easiest way to explore Cyprus at your own pace — the salt lake, the Troodos mountains, Cape Greco and the coast. Buses
- Kapnos Airport Shuttle & Intercity Buses: connect the airport with Nicosia and Larnaca town.
- Limassol Airport Express: a direct coach service to Limassol.
- Local Larnaca buses: serve the town and Finikoudes seafront for a low flat fare.
Buses are the budget choice, but they run to a timetable with limited late-night service and little luggage space. Routes, fares and timetables change, so confirm the details locally close to your travel date.
